About Local 510

We represent Bay Area Trade Show and Convention Installers and Exhibit Builders, as well as Sign Painters and Pictorial workers and our local has existed since March of the year 1900. Our jurisdiction covers Northern California, and we are affiliated with District Council 36 of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades. We install and build Trade Shows from “floor to ceiling” as well as Conventions and Special Events. We are a service trade in a healthy industry that puts on meetings and events around the world.

Local 510’s membership numbers approximately 900 people, as well as several hundred applicants who work with us in busy times. Our local provides labor for more than fifty contractors in the Greater Bay Area.

Our commitment as a union is:

• To represent our membership and protect our common interests concerning working conditions, wages, and benefits.

• To be a part of the greater labor movement, working towards health care for everyone, fair retirement, job protection, safety, and the larger issues that affect all working people.

• To focus on job safety, improving safety awareness through training and continuing education.

• To work with our community to increase job opportunities and better working conditions.

• To enhance and optimize quality of life on and off the job.

• To maintain a model of mutual respect in the workplace.

• To link the rank and file to the local union, District Council and community through activism and education.

• To endorse political and community leaders who support labor causes, to effect change through political action, to get out the vote, and to support causes which protect all working people.
